There is quite a lot to report, but I'll try to thin it out so you don't get too bored. I know how windy I can be!

Website Changes
Vera Collier joins me in the site!
My friend and fellow artist, Vera Collier, will have her own category in the site! We will be loading her packets and products in the next few weeks, so please go in and check them out! Vera has a similar style to mine and designs a lot of wonderful lighthouses and very cute characters in acrylics. Vera is my co-author for the "Shivering Heights" book. She and husband, Denny, now live near Bear Lake, Michigan, after spending most of their lives near Lima, Ohio. They have two grown boys, Mike and Ryan, who live in Columbus. We met more than 30 years ago and became the best of friends. We've watched our children grow up together and shared many family events, over the years. Look for "Vera Collier - Packets and Products" in the Shop! Her things will also be found in "What's New?" Also look for a her latest design in the October issue of "Painting"!

Re-Organizing
In the website, I've consolidated some old categories and added a few new ones, such as: "Longaberger Products" and "Antiques and Collectables". As usual, all new products (of every kind) can be found in "What's New?"

Links Added
New sites have been added to the Links menu. Some are included just because I found them to be so beautiful! Others have great information. Art to Art Palette is especially nice to visit and has the latest lists of local art show winners. They also list upcoming art events in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. Many thanks to Ben and Pat Rayman for their hard work in starting and running this site! You can also order Art to Art Palette Magazine by contacting Ben through their site. It's a bi-annual publication and is well worth the price! The latest edition will be printed and mailed in October.

Art Show Awards
Pardon me for bragging a little here, but I'm excited to report that I have won two more fine art awards! Awards are a great validation of anyone's artwork and I congratulated all the winners! Other pending shows include: In Indiana - Seventh Harvest Biennial at Arts Place in Portland In Ohio - Canal Days ArtFest in Delphos, Greenville Art Guild Fall Show, and the Annual Members Art Show at the Wassenberg Art Center in Van Wert. I'll let you know what happens if I am accepted into any of these shows.

Professional Watercolor - First Place Award for Royal Iris

Friends of the Library - Summer ArtFest (St. Marys, Ohio)

New Article Released this Month!
Please look for a new article, written by your's truely, in the 2007 Christmas Ornament Edition of PaintWorks Magazine. This article contains three framed watercolor ornaments and will be released sometime in mid-August. If you are going to the HOOT Decorative Painting Convention in Columbus, Ohio, this magazine will be available at the All American Crafts booth (near the center of the Trade Show). They also publish Quick and Easy Painting and several other top-notch magazines! Editor, Linda Heller and her staff, are just good people! I hope you will support them with your purchase.

HOOT
Speaking of HOOT...I will not have a booth this year, but will attend the trade show for two days. Phyllis Higgins, Lisa Wright, Karen Hamilton, and I will stay together at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This is connected to the Greater Columbus Convention Center, in downtown Columbus, Ohio. Lisa and I will meet up with Karen to travel together and meet Phyllis at the hotel on Thursday morning, August 16. We head for home on Friday night. The trade show opens to the public Thursday morning, so we will all come prepared, with our pockets stuffed with cash and credit cards!

To Decorative Artists, HOOT is the highlight event of the every summer and is a must see! Several hundred classes, in every medium, are offered throughout the week long convention. The Art Show and Sample Room are a also a must see! Many painters spend their hard-earned vacations at the convention, where they over-load on late night classes and/or talk most of the nights away. Anyone can spend many hours volunteering at different worker stations. But, if you don't do anything else, I encourage everyone to stop at the Memory Box area, and paint at least one box for this wonderful charity project for local hospitals. You will become emotionally involved, when you read about the details of this project and the recipiants of the boxes.

The HOOT (Heart of Ohio Tole) Convention and Trade Show is fast approaching. It's a great place to meet new friends or re-kindle old friendships. It's also a place to meet your favorite designing artists while most of them are teaching classes and/or attend to their booths. It's fantastic! I encourage all fine artists to attend! The first time you enter the Royal Booth and find their wonderful brushes for 50% off...you will be hooked, like the rest of us! I hope to see you there on Thursday and Friday, August 16 and 17! The trade show closes on Saturday (18th) at 2:00PM

ATC Swaps
Our ATC Trading Company swap group has been meeting every two months. We have 12 members and three openings for new artists. Please contact me if you are interested in joining us and I will give you the details! Our most recent swap was held on Wednesday, August 8. We met at Karen Hamilton's home in Bellefontaine, Ohio. We also have long distance artists who send their cards, to be traded.

I hope to trade a few cards at the HOOT convention. The official trade will be done on Tuesday of the convention, but I won't be there until Thursday. So, I'll have to catch traders by word of mouth. If you have cards to trade, please let me know, so we can meet somewhere to swap!

That's it for now. Hope you have found the update interesting and/or informative. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. I appreciate your input!
